Artist link - Megan Dickie

The art you see on this site, and on the cover of my upcoming CD, is taken from a fire-etched wax piece by West Coast artist Megan Dickie.

I was first introduced to Megan’s work through photographs of her frozen chicken sculptures, all of which were crafted in disturbing, compromising poses. The unsettling and humourous themes in her sculptures and prints is magnetic, and while I’m no critic, as a fan I’m drawn to the visceral and feminine honesty of her work.

I’ve had the pleasure, over a campfire or two, of hearing Megan’s insightful ideas on aesthetics and the media, and I’m honoured to have her work giving shape and colour to my music.

To check out Megan’s “Multitasker Installation”, visit her page on the Vancouver Island School of Art website.

Megan shows regularly in Victoria and Vancouver, so all you West Coasters keep an eye out for her work at a gallery near you…
